The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Delegation in Ethiopia is looking to hire an experienced, highly motivated and qualified person to fill the position of Economic Security Generalist 2-Monitoring & Evaluation  (1 year fixed term contract), based in Addis Ababa.



Under the supervision and guidance of Economic Security Analysis & Evidence Specialist is responsible for all matters related to assessments, analysis, monitoring, evaluation, reporting and information management needed for EcoSec programming in his/her country of assignment.

  • Supports in organizing and conducting economic security/vulnerability assessments in sudden onset emergencies and/or when time and resources might be limited, produce reports and support operational planning.
  • Provides inputs to the development of monitoring, review and evaluation plans to assess and measure the achievement of expected results, in compliance with EcoSec evaluation and monitoring practices.
  • Provides feedback on the formulation of the Monitoring and Evaluation strategies and support their operationalization.
  • Contributes to evidence-based decision-making on programme design and implementation, notably through making monitoring, analysis review and evaluation findings accessible developing innovative, user-friendly and informative products.
  • Supports Thematic Advisor in addressing monitoring, reviews and evaluation recommendations to ensure that follow-up actions are taken as required.
  • Takes responsibility for integrating accountability to affected population (AAP) and gender perspectives in all areas of work.
  • Performs data cleaning, management and analysis and sets up regular reporting tools.
  • Leads beneficiary registration and management exercises, using corporate digital solutions
  • Leads complaint and feedback mechanisms activities, using corporate digital solutions in coordination with AAP team
  • Ensures audit trail and governance for data transformation, integration rules and outputs.
  • At PfR and operational plan design stage, supports the Thematic advisor in developing a M&E framework.
  • Supports Thematic advisor in ensuring that delegation monitoring systems and tools are in place and compliant with corporate standards, including the minimum monitoring requirements, standard operational procedures (SOP) and establishment of baselines and targets in alignment with the updated EcoSec programme reference framework (PRF).
  • Drafts regular programme, project and activity monitoring reports on the status of results and implementation progress and contributes to the data analysis.
  • Supports mid-term reviews and thematic reviews which are intended for internal learning, strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Performs other related duties as required.


  • Follows up on all work-related messages and correspondence with the relevant contacts and departments
  • Is aware of the delegation’s objectives and has a good knowledge of the Movement and other contacts relevant to the position
  • Collects and shares information so as to improve the ICRC’s understanding of the environment and humanitarian trends and responses
  • Represents the ICRC in an appropriate way during activities, in meetings and in the field, and avoids any activity that may reflect negatively on the ICRC’s image
  • Takes responsibility for their own professional learning and development

Job Requirements

  • University degree in Economics, Statistics, Sociology, project management or other related field
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in monitoring and evaluation mainly in humanitarian  context
  • Good command (spoken and written) of English and Amharic.
