JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: JISRA Country Coordinator – Ethiopia
Tearfund is hiring a Country Coordinator for leading on the Joint Initiative for Strategic Religious Action (JISRA) programme in Ethiopia.
JISRA is a partnership of 50 civil society organisations based in Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iraq, Kenya, Mali, Nigeria and Uganda, the United Kingdom, Belgium and The Netherlands. The programme is aimed at promoting peaceful and just societies where all enjoy Freedom of Religion and Belief (FoRB). JISRA works with a great variety of local faith-based actors, partners, networks, youth and women’s organisations to support, capacitate and amplify inclusive voices and policies. In Ethiopia, It is being implemented by eight local partners together with two international consortium partners; Tearfund and Faith to Action Network. The JISRA partnership in Ethiopia includes mainstream religions: Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, Islamic organisations, Catholic, Protestant, Interreligious, and Faith-based local partners.
The JISRA Country Coordinator is responsible to support the implementation and coordination of the programme with JISRA partners in Ethiopia through providing technical support to, monitoring, and developing the capacity of implementing Partners. In addition, will also be responsible for ensuring that technical support is provided to partner staff, community based institutions and other stakeholders that are working for the projects. The JISRA Country Coordinator follows up, monitors and supports partners to comply with donor requirements and conditions.
We are looking for a candidate with:
- Proven programme coordination and budget management experience, in large-scale programming.
- Proven experience in programme implementation strategy development and execution of plans.
- Substantial research and development experience.
- Proven experience in capacity building or coaching of staff and or partners
- Experience in report writing and monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning.
- Proven experience in networking and collaboration
The successful applicant will also have:
- Excellent verbal and written skills in English;
- Ability to lead and influence in a diplomatic manner across a wide variety of stakeholders with differing beliefs and opinions.
- Sensitivity in working cross culturally
- Planning, budgeting, monitoring and evaluation skills;
- Excellent leadership and management skills;

This is a national full time position based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Therefore, Ethiopian nationals will be given preference for this role.
